Post Secondary, Transitional & Gap Year Placements

The time it takes to grow up varies greatly among individuals. Being a high school senior may not mean a student is ready to proceed to college. For these students, an interim, alternative or transitional program may be a wise decision. Identifying these programs and guiding families to the ones that fit their child is a service that Woodfin & Associates provides.

Some post-secondary programs provide extra time for a student to mature while doing a post-graduate year at a boarding school, engaging in volunteer work, or studying abroad. Universities now encourage students to take an extra, gap year to gain life experience in a productive enviornment before proceeding to college.

Other young adults are not sufficiently independant to proceed to traditional college in the foreseeable future. Transitional programs provide a structured living setting for them. These may be students with developmental disabilities who want to move towards living independenty by taking some classes, or learning a profession. These specialized programs provide support and training in life skills, financial literacy, and career development. Christie Woodfin is expert in directing families to programs that strike the balance her clients need between support and independence.

Helping each adolescent grow into the happiest and best adult possible is always Christie Woodfin's goal.
