The Inspiration of an Educational Consultant in Atlanta

I’ve realized over the past few years in working as an educational consultant for families in Atlanta, New Orleans and throughout the South, that I try to balance a three-pronged approach. This includes clinical sophistication and expertise,  a thorough knowledge of schools and programs, and an ability to understand, relate to, support kids and their families.

I’m basically a creative, non-linear thinker, so I try to approach each client with fresh eyes and a creative mind.  Providing families (be they in Atlanta, New Orleans or anywhere else) with hope that the next school can be a better fit,  I then dedicate myself , not just to achieving an admission, but rather to helping place a student in the place where he or she can fulfill individual talents. I help to find the school where the student can pursue special interests, and get particular kinds of support. What I have been able to do as an educational consultant has filled me with inspiration over the last two decades.

It’s helpful every once in a while to take a look at what we’re doing and why.  What are the driving forces behind our work?; what inspires us?; what cheers us?; what standards do we try to keep?

I’ll admit to regularly checking Facebook.  It may seem mindless, but it does provide connection with some far-flung friends that I don’t get to see often enough.

Linkedin I don’t “get” quite as well, and therefore seldom check.  But for some reason I went to Linkedin this morning, endorsed some colleagues, and even looked at my summary information.  Of course, I couldn’t stop there, and I paused to make some revisions.

So I’ll share what I put in Linkedin and hope you think it describes what we do at Woodfin & Associates:
